The farm lengths about 43 hectares. The farm is cultivated with olives and vineyards in the famous sweet and verdant hills of Maremma Toscana, beside the seacoast and Cecina city (! mile from both) .
The proprietarily house and the relative attached buildings (Scuderia, Frantoio, Granaio, Piccionaia, all now used as comfortable suites), have been built the XIX Century. At the beginning the farm was used as Tuscania’s Duke Leopoldo II hunt preserve, and afterwards it becomes estate of Adorni Earls. During the last world War this farm was silent shelter of the under grounders .
Today the farm still shows its ancient and glorious past, either historical but also naturalistic, due to its surrounding secular Holm - oaks, cypresses and olives. Who comes to visit the farm is getting impressed being transported in a silence and Harmony past. Its panoramic position is due also to be placed on the top of low and sweet hill, and completely surrounded by the Maremma Mediterranean, woodland which allows the view of the cultures , of the surrounding hills green nuances, conflicting with the sky and sea blue nuances.
The guests will get several relaxing and visiting possibilities: going by walk, cycle or horse through the woodland itineraries (inside the farm) and, in case, stumbling upon dees, pheasants, wild- boars and other wild animals of Tuscania fauna, during their promenades.
Fattoria di Collemezzano have at one’s disposal guest 12 properly restored flats. Some of them (Scuderia – Stable, Sala Carrozze – Carriages Apartament, Piccionaia - Dovecot, Il Ponente, Il Levante, Il Robbia, I Glicini, Frantoio) present the typical features of the XIX century. Others present the typical farmer style of Tuscania (Aia, Querciaia, I Lecci, I Corbezzoli, Le Querce, I Cipressi).
The flats are really large and present all the modern comforts: heating, television (if required), washer, dish-washer and a really comfortable kitchen. Furthermore, they are equipped with a furnished external place. They surely represent the best solution for the families which want spend a relaxing period in an independent house and surrounded by landscape quiet.

Surroundings
and activities |
The place is besides suggested for bird- watching lovers, due to artificial nests and cribs, correctly positioned along the route, which attract a large number of tits, finches, sparrows and goldfinches. Riding the bike it’s also possible in few minutes to reach the coast , with its free and immense beaches and pine woods. Fattoria di Collemezzano is also cross-road of cultural, historical and artistic itineraries. Not far from it, the ancient Francigenais placed, medieval way for the peregrines to Rome and along whose route several cities, like S. Giminiano and Volterra, was born.
Without any difficulties and spending few time (the highway is about 2 miles far, Rosignano exit), the guests could reach cities like Florence, Lucca, Pisa and Leghorn.
The Factory is positioned near Cecina, which is an attractive and elegant sea- landscape with log beaches (5 Kilometres from Cecina it’s easy to reach – direction Rosignano – the famous “ White- beaches , with their diamantine sea colours), and offers several seasonal activities, like discotheque, water- parks, cinemas (either internal and external), bowling , roller blade circuits, shops for all the tastes and pockets. Every Tuesday a famous colourful market is present in the centre of Cecina. Every summer a lot of excursions are proposed by Cecina tour operators: to Argentario, Terme di Venturina, medieval burgs like Bolgheri and Castagneto Carducci, or along the “ Wine Route”.
In 1 hour from the factory it’s furthermore possible to go by car to Piombino, from which, every half hour, the local ferry-boats rech the famous Elba island (1 navigation hour), with its marvellous Mediterranean pine woods, colourful sea and sandy beaches.
After all Fattoria di Collemezzano is a site where nature, art, culture, sea and local ancient history create a magic environment, from which is really difficult going away and forgetting it. |
