Moulin de Pierretoune was built in 1550 and is situated on the river Arberoue in the heart of the Basque Country in beautiful peaceful countryside, yet just half an hour from the sea and sandy beaches. The mill has 4 bedrooms, a large living/dining room with fireplace, kitchen and utility room. The bathroom has been newly fitted. The cottage has 2 hectares (5 acres) of land and the river runs just in front of the house and gardens. The living room leads out onto a large terrace area with garden furniture. The terrace, in turn, leads out onto an "island' style garden where the river runs on either side. There are lots of plane trees for shade in the summer and a sandy bank which leads down to the water. On land behind the cottage are 6 wooden cabins - one of which is avaiable if needed for surplus accommodation. The cabin is fully equipped and has a sofa bed and also 2 single beds, veranda, it's own barbecue and parking. The mill is situated in a small hamlet just outside the village of Labastide Clairence, voted one of the most beautiful villages in France and well-known for its artisans. Labastide Clairence is just 10 minutes from the motorway and 30 minutes from Biarritz, 40 minutes from Pau. There is an airport in both these towns (Ryanair). As well as the beautiful towns of Pau and Biarritz, Bayonne, St. Jean de Luz, St. Jean Pied de Port, and across the Spanish border: San Sebastian and Bilbao are all just a short drive away.
