It is situated very close to the new World Heritage Site of Andrassy utca which is in the very centre of some of the most beautiful and classic areas of Budapest including the City Park which is in the heart of this area. The Park is fantastic and even has a wonderful castle within it as well as many other interesting places including museums, boating lake, Europe's largest outdoor ice-rink for skating with plenty of facilities to spectate. Then there are the thermal baths that are incredible with outdoor swimming-pool and Turkish bath, all of which are available to you fairly inexpensively. So it is a great area to explore and to have as a base. There! are fantastic travel connections by bus, trolley-bus, metro and tram so getting further into the centre is a breeze or so is moving out to the outer city and surrounding countryside.
The Flat is within the World Heritage area and this has been refurbished with new classical street furniture, pavements and greenery so it really is very beautiful. The flat has direct views from both bedrooms and from the sitting-room of the City Park.
The Bedrooms are on a separate floor and are large doubles, there is also a large bathroom with wc, bath, and washing-machine. All the floors are polished parquet floors with rugs in the corridor between the bedrooms and the bathroom. There is central-heating by gas on both floors. The flat is large so each double is a good size with chests of drawers, one has a futon at the moment but a double bed can easily be set up. There is a good amount of hanging space for clothes provided by an inbuilt clothes cupboard and and IKEA wardrobe. The furniture and furnishings are mainly from IKEA and make the place feel a pleasant environment to live in.
The stairs from the bedroom floor lead downstairs and on the right is the entrance to the flat and immediately to the right of that is the kitchen with fridge, gas cooker and oven. It is a fitted kitchen with all the pots, pans, cutlery, crockery and glasses that you would need. there is a kettle but as yet no microwave but we could arrange that.
If you do not go into the kitchen, then you find yourself in a pleasant atmospheric hall which serves as a dining area and has dining-room table and 3 chairs. Next to the kitchen is another door that leads into the washroom where there is a separate wc, washstand and shower. So you do not have to keep going up and downstairs. There is a new vacuum-cleaner to keep the place tidy. The hall-diner leads into the sitting-room which is between 15 and 20 feet square with PC table and chair, various modern pictures, sofa and an easy-chair. There are some standard lamps and another chest of drawers as well as several floor rugs. Internet and telephone are both available. There is cable TV as well with about 40 channels. There is a cable TV connection upstairs as well in the first bedroom. It is very comfortable and clean with quite a special charact! er as this kind of layout is unusual in Budapest and its situation is very good in the heart of an already considerably renovated area where continual upgrading is taking place. The flat is on the third floor of an internally well-maintained house from the late 19th century. There is no lift unfortunately. The outside is a little scruffy but is set to be completely repainted and made good this or next month. Works will not take more than a few weeks ( my estimate ). Those who live there, are very discreet and should not bother you, if you decide to take it.
I love the place and I think those who have stayed in it, did too because it has been let almost without pause continually for over 3 years, sometimes for more than a year at a time. There is off-street parking nearby opposite the flat next to the Park which is free, an added bonus. It is 114 square metres which amounts to 342 square feet which makes it spacious and airy. Good for entertaining friends. The heating works well and if handled correctly costs relatively little. The utility bills of gas, electricity are payable on the basis of what you use. Gas is likely to be very small in summer as is electricity. Then there is telephone if needed which works out at about 10 pounds for the line and rental and bills tend to be in the 20 pounds range. Internet and TV together will cost together 40 pounds per month but TV alone is about 6 to 7 pounds. TV and utilities which would be the cheapest option which with utilities should not be more than about 30 to 40 per month at most. |
